Harmonium 101

  • tru yoga south ave Rochester, NY USA (map)

3 hour workshop at Tru in March.

Do you have a harmonium in your closet that you crave playing, but don’t know where to start? Curious about the difference between the words kirtan, chanting, mantra, japa, and nāda? Marla is a 500 hour RYT in Mantra and Nāda Yoga and has been teaching yoga since 2006. Chanting Sanskrit mantras have been a part of her family’s spiritual practice since birth.

Learn the basics of how to play the harmonium, finding your tonic note, and vocal exercises. You will take home a three tone Vedic style chant and a mantra practice you can use for a personal practice right away.

You’re required to bring your own harmonium and the app “itabla pro” is recommended, but not required. Alternatively, you could bring a battery operated keyboard.
