Let’s define:

Kīrtan - Call and response style of devotional singing, found in India, and brought to America. Common American kīrtan singers are: Krishna Das, Jai Uttal, or Snatam Kaur

Nāda- sound & nada yoga is about finding union through sound. Similar to how we use our bodies, we use our listening and vocal production skills to participate fully in Nāda Yoga.

Bhajan - “Bhaj” is the Sanskrit root word meaning to revere or worship. This is a specific kind of devotional song expressing love for the divine.

Chant - a repetitive spoken devotional practice with the goal of connecting with the divine or focusing intention/purpose

Mantra - a word or phrase repeated over and over again

Bhakti Yoga - A spiritual path (Hindu/yogi) that focuses on devotion: love and compassion for God. Bhakti Yoga is one of the four main yogic paths, along with Jnana Yoga (the path of knowledge), Karma Yoga (the path of selfless action), and Raja Yoga (the path of meditation).
